Youth Environment Education

Utilian community and in particular school children are now engaged in a number of activities aimed at environmental awareness, included but not limited to: beach clean-ups, turtle monitoring and adoption, seed planting, and art, sports and science competitions.

Environmental awareness campaigns are routinely conducted within the community using various media. Topics include: protected areas management, Honduran fishing restrictions collectively known as VEDA’s (updated annually), energy and water conservation tips, sustainable practices for visitors as well as residents, reef health and invasive species management.
